SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- It's rehearsal time and a new season for the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

"We've got eight new conductors that will be coming to bring their twist on how the orchestra is conducted, and different programs that they will be bringing us," said Marcia White, SPAC CEO/Executive Director.

There will be Arabian Nights and the return of Yo-Yo-Ma, among others.

"We'll have Joshua Bell, we'll have a star-studded list of soloists, and additionally we'll have something new, which will be Wizard of Oz night and the orchestra will play the score," White said.

Not only is this musical organization one of the top five rated in the world, they also have roots here in the Spa City.

White noted, "They have families who have been coming to SPAC for 47 years, they support this area."

For example, concertmaster David Kim. For him and his family, this area has become a second home.

"We rent a home here from the same family for the last 13 years, we've rented a home in Milton Heights," said Kim.

As a musician, this continues to be a lifetime labor of love.

"Once they get in this orchestra, they stay for 30, 40, 50 years. It's the greatest achievement of our professional lives to become a member of this orchestra," Kim explained.

In addition to another full season at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, there's some more positive news for the Philadelphia Orchestra, emerging from bankruptcy.

"They did what needed to be done in order to move forward in a sustainable direction and I think we need to do our part in supporting them," noted White.

If you would like to see the Philadelphia Orchestra, they will be performing at SPAC through August 18.
