ALBANY, N.Y. -- Dozens gathered at the Times Union Center in Albany on Wednesday singing Jingle Bells while ringing jingle bells.
Besides spreading some holiday cheer, the group sang with another goal in mind; they were actually trying to set a world record.
Participants decked themselves out in festive attire and Santa himself also took part. Organizers say it's important to bring the community together, especially this time of year.
Downtown Albany BID Marketing Manager Marquita Rhodes said, "Downtown Albany has a history of being festive. In fact, the are rumors that the first Christmas card was printed in a building in downtown Albany. So, it is a continuing tradition of festive spirit and vibrancy in downtown."
Bells were provided to everyone who attended and the event was free and open to the public.
There is no word yet on whether the record was set.
