NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- An NYPD officer was arrested after investigators say the man engaged in inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old boy from the Town of Wallkill.

Rosandre Burgher, 26, has been charged with criminal sexual act, unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say he had inappropriate contact with the teen between February and June of this year.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says the arrest was a collaborative effort.

Kelly said, "This person calls directly into the internal affairs bureau makes allegations, the internal affairs bureau goes meets with Wallkill Police Department, works in conjunction with them and the arrest was made."

Burgher was off duty at the time of the arrest. He's been suspended and remanded to the Orange County jail in lieu of bail.
