SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A cab driver is in critical condition after being stabbed in Schenectady. Police are still trying to piece together what happened.

The cab driver actually called them just before 7 p.m. Thursday to tell them he'd been stabbed. Officers aren't sure whether the cab driver was stabbed while on the job.

The cab was located two blocks from the Schenectady Public Library and police are searching it for clues. They're also looking for a suspect, a woman they say might have been involved.

Officers say the driver walked down Liberty Street to get help at the library.

"There's a blood trail from Eastern and Nott Terrace, from where we believe the crime scene took place, to where he was found at the library," said Schenectady Police Lt. Mark McCracken.

Police have very few details about the suspect they're looking for.

The driver was airlifted to Albany Med, where he's listed in critical condition.
