ALBANY, N.Y. -- We're learning more about the fatal fire that broke out early Sunday morning at 12 Arcadia Avenue.

Crews say it wasn't until after the fire was put out that they discovered a body in a rear bedroom on the second floor, too badly burned to identify.

A neighbor who didn’t want to go on camera says he and two other men were renting the home that caught fire through the end of the month. The man says he had just moved across the street last week, but that his two housemates remained at 12 Arcadia.

One of the two men was out of town this weekend, the other man, of course, lost his life Sunday morning in the fire.

Neighbors say they were alerted to the fire by crews banging on their doors.

“When I was first out there, people were saying ‘oh no one was in the house.’ So it was a sigh of relief. So it was really heart breaking to hear someone lost their life,” said Heather Eckert.

"We have the Albany fire investigators, the Albany police investigators, the Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the District Attorney's office, all fire investigators here assisting us in investigating this scene," said Albany Fire Chief Robert Forezzi.

Now those agencies are still investigating what could have caused the fire.

Autopsy results are expected back on Monday.
