COLONIE, N.Y. — A local airman receives a warm welcome home Saturday after a tour of duty overseas.

Master Sergeant Misty Strauss returned home after six months in Southeast Asia. She dealt with planning, as well the publication of her base's regulations.

She says she couldn't have fulfilled her duties without the help of loved ones here at home.

"Coming home to the family and friends, there's nothing like it. You kind of don't feel anything while you're gone until you're almost here, and then you start feeling these emotions and you're like 'it's home," it's awesome," said Master Sergeant Melissa Strauss, 109th Air Force National Guard Wing.

Master Sergeant Strauss is based in Scotia. Now that she's back, she plans to spend more time enjoying her family and kids.
