Indian Point employee arrested for stealing copper wire

BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- State Police arrested an Indian Point employee after they say he stole more than $10,000 worth of copper wire from the nuclear power plant.

Police say Christopher Albea, 40, an employee in the Maintenance Department, removed several thousand pounds of copper wire from the site. They say Albea then sold the wire to a Dutchess County scrap yard for several thousand dollars in cash.

Albea is now charged with grand larceny and is being held in Westchester County Jail on bail.

Police say another employee, Theodore Kozelka, 33, was arrested earlier this month for stealing more than $50,000 in scrap metal.

Anyone with information about thefts at Indian Point should call the State Police at (914) 737-7171.
