NEW YORK -- Former Assemblyman George Amedore is speaking for the first time publicly since his loss in the state Senate race. It was a close race, but in the end, Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk beat Amedore in the race for the 46th Senate district.
The former Assemblyman was just 18 votes away from victory.

"We will see what the future holds. Whether an opportunity presents itself or not. But you never close the door, you always keep focus on how we can improve the quality of life and make New York State a much better state," said Amedore.

The 46th Senate district, which stretches from the Mohawk to the Hudson valley, was added by Republicans as a 63rd Senate seat in the redistricting process.
