The frigid air outside has a blanket of snow keeping temperatures at uncomfortable lows. Our Megan Cruz spoke to people braving the cold weather.

"My legs and my toes are tingly, my fingers are frozen," said Melissa Nasholts from Schenectady.

"Trying to text but it doesn't work! My fingers are so cold," said another Schenectady resident, Cyierra Roldan.

"I come from New Mexico so this isn't quite the temperature I'm used to," said Rensselaer resident Leila Stanfield.

That's why, like everyone else out and about Thursday, Standfield's bundled up!

"About three layers of clothes," said Stanfield. "About as much as I can get on while still getting my coat on!"

"Long sleeve underneath my coat, scarf, gloves, got earmuffs in my bag," said Nasholts.

Work, errands, appointments - all reasons why people say they couldn't stay holed up nice and warm at home. So instead, they're out braving below zero temperatures.

"Cyierra's gotta go to the dentist then she's going back home," said Nasholts. "I have to go to work."

"Had to pick up pick up prescriptions and go to the bank!" said Stanfield.

Thursday's low temps all dipped below zero across the Capital Region. Here in Albany, it was five below. The last time it was that cold was almost two years ago on February 11, 2011.

"Gotta just keep moving," said one passerby.

"I'm going back home right after this," said Roldan.

Could be worse. Up at Saranac Lake, it was a teeth-chattering -24 degrees Thursday! People here say they're miserable but not surprised.

Stanfield said, "It kind of goes with winter. That's what winter is: cold."

There's good news, though! Forecasters predict it will slowly get warmer throughout Thursday. For Friday, it may make it to 30 degrees. Still below freezing, but above zero.
