LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. -- The annual Lake George Polar Plunge took place New Year's Day. Hundreds of people dared to swim in the frigid lake water. The brave souls splashed around in almost 40 degree water.

The Polar Plunge kicks off the Lake George Winter Carnival with a splash. Events and other plunges are scheduled for every weekend in February.
