SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- "This is on the heels of one of the most tragic massacres that have occurred in American history. Let's be a little sensitive," said Joanne Yepsen, County Supervisor for Saratoga Springs.

She echoes the opinions of many residents who are upset that an annual gun show at the Saratoga Springs City Center will go on as planned on January.

"The petition was signed by families in Saratoga Springs who would like to see the gun show completely canceled," said Yepsen.

That petition has not yet been offered to the city center. But Yepsen's hoping to reach some middle ground.

"All we're asking is that they do not display or promote high capacity weapons, semi-automatic, who really, they're military weapons," she said.

David Petronis has headed the Saratoga Springs gun show for about 30 years. He says it has run smoothly.

"I can't think of any negative connotation with a gun show to be perfectly honest with you. Everything we do is positive. The people that come there are positive people. They're probably veterans, war veterans, fire veterans, police veterans," said Petronis.

And he's not sure if banning these weapons for the show is the solution.

"I've asked our dealers not to bring a lot of semi-automatic weapons, and I shouldn't say semi-automatic, AR-15 style lookalikes to the show. But our show is two weeks away. Guns have been selling in such great numbers right now that I don't think in two weeks there will be any AR-15 type weapons to sell," he said.

Something that remains to be seen.

Yepsen and Petronis will be meeting on January 3rd to discuss a compromise.
