Garbage truck crashes into house

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. -- A garbage truck knocked down three utility poles and hit a house in New Windsor, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage.

Police say it happened around 7:45 a.m. when a 44-year-old Middletown man parked a Marangi Garbage truck and went to a deli. They say the truck then rolled down Route 9W slamming into the utility poles before crashing into the front porch of the house.

There were no injuries, but the truck nearly hit several students waiting at a nearby bus stop.

Police say the accident caused power outages, and the street was closed for several hours while the electric poles were fixed.
