ALBANY, N.Y. -- An Albany man is dead after a shooting Tuesday morning.

Police received the call around 11 a.m. When they got to 55 Ontario Street, they found Iquan Carter, 23. He was taken to Albany Med., where he later died.

Police say they've recovered several shell casings on the sidewalk opposite from where they believe the victim stood. They also say he may have to tried to run for help before collapsing behind a house.

The shooting took place near Schuyler Achievement Academy on Clinton Avenue. A spokesperson for the school says it went into lockdown for about 30 minutes.

According to police, the students and staff were not in danger and the lockdown has since been lifted.
