NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Just days after a gunman killed 26 people, some students in Newtown, Connecticut, are returning to class today with the exception of students from Sandy Hook Elementary. Sandy Hook is closed indefinitely while the investigation continues.

State Police say it could be months before police turn the school in Newtown back over to the district.

Connecticut State Police say the shooter, Adam Lanza, 20, forced his way into the school. Police also say his mother, Nancy, was found dead at her home with multiple gunshot wounds. Lanza shot and killed himself as well, according to police.

They say children who witnessed the attack will be interviewed with the help of counselors.

Police also say additional threats or attempts to interfere with police activity is a crime and will be prosecuted. Worshippers were forced to evacuate a Newtown church on Sunday after someone reportedly phoned in a bomb threat.

Meanwhile, funerals continue today for the victims of the shootings.

Two six-year olds were laid to rest on Monday. Jack Pinto, a New York Giants fan, was buried wearing the jersey of Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz. The other was Noah Pozner, whose twin sister was assigned to a different classroom and survived the shooting. An uncle told mourners Noah "would have become a great man."
