Saint Rose forward takes home Player of the Year honors

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Saint Rose women's soccer team didn't come home national champions this season, as they got beat in the semifinal but junior forward Carmelina Puopolo has grabbed the country's top award.
Puopolo has been named National Player of the Year as voted on by the sports information directors. She was the coaches choice for National Player of the Year last year.
Puopolo set school records this season in points, goals and assists. She finished with 20 goals and 17 assists.
Teammate junior Sydney Bond was named with Puopolo as a first team All-American. Freshman Amanda Vazquez received Honorable Mention.
