Suspicious odor not dangerous
HIGHLAND FALLS, N.Y. -- A suspicious odor coming from a storm drain in Highland Falls turned out to be nothing dangerous. HAZMAT crews were called to the scene early Friday afternoon. Main Street was closed from Mountain Avenue to Brennans Way, but has since reopened.
It turns out something was in the drain they thought was flammable, but it turns out it wasn't. Crews have flushed the drains and Main Street has been reopened.
There is still no word on what was in the drain.
