Man hit and killed by train in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A man was hit and killed on railroad tracks in Schenectady early Friday morning.

According to police, a man in his late 40s was on the tracks north of Weaver Street around 2 a.m. when he was hit by a Canadian Pacific train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released. It's not known at this point why the man was on the tracks.
