NEW YORK STATE -- With the holiday season officially here, we caught up with some people at the opening of the Empire State Plaza Rink on Friday to find out what they're looking forward to most.

The general consensus? Many are excited to welcome winter and all that comes with it, knowing it means the holidays are that much closer.

"Just being with the family, being with the family and friends from out of town and stuff like that, so we're going to explore a lot of the restaurants, a lot of the stuff in this area, so definitely looking forward to it," said Dan Powers of Brunswick.

"Making people happy, make them smile. ‘Tis the season! Everyone get along and let's try to bring this economy back together," Albany resident Greg Gombel said.

"Looking forward to having my sisters home for Christmas and it's very fun to have the family together,” Albany resident Natalie Grant said.
