ALBANY, N.Y. -- A lot of people will spend Wednesday night getting ready for Thanksgiving. Others will head out to local bars for their own celebrations.

Many bars say the night before Thanksgiving is their biggest night of the year, even more so than New Year’s. Of course, that can lead to some problems, so police often step up patrols.

Albany police say they'll be on the lookout like every night, but it's still up to people who go out, to be responsible.

“Tonight should be treated like any other night. People should drink responsibly, enjoy downtown, have a good time or wherever they choose to go. Call for a cab and just have a good time,” said Albany Police Spokesman Steve Smith.
