If you're in charge of cooking for Thanksgiving, you've probably peeled your share of potatoes and cut a good amount of carrots in preparation. But what if you had to do it for thousands who depend on you for their meal? That's the task placed before the hundreds of volunteers at Equinox. ALBANY, N.Y. -- For thousands of people in the Capital Region, Equinox is a place they can depend on every year for a Thanksgiving meal. But that doesn't come without plenty of work from hundreds of volunteers.

About 9,500 meals will be served on Thanksgiving to the Capital Region's hungry and homebound. Equinox says they couldn't do it without lots of help from the community.

“The business really turned out to help us out this year. Individual farmers have donated crops to us. The number of volunteers, 3,500, 4,000 volunteers through the course of the week, all willing to do whatever needs to be done,” said Tom Tibbits, Equinox‘s head chef.

Equinox's Thanksgiving dinners were first served back in 1969.
