NEW YORK STATE – A third of New Yorkers believe in Santa Claus, according to a Siena research poll of holiday spending. The poll also found 38 percent of retailers will be open on Thanksgiving and a quarter of New Yorkers plan to shop this Black Friday.

On top of that, most people are saying they're planning on buying more gifts and spending a bit more than last year.

Bad news for kids though. The top gift of this season looks like it’s going to be clothes at 73 percent, with toys coming in second at 62 percent.
