ALBANY, N.Y. -- The team effort of two groups to bring toys to needy kids is in its 24th holiday season. The Albany Police Athletic League and CAP COM Federal Credit Union are collecting toys all around the Capital Region.

Drop-off boxes are set up at CAP COM branches, Hannaford Supermarkets and Albany police stations.

"Whether a family is suffering a loss from a fire or other natural disasters or really just struggling through the difficult economic times. No other time is it more apparent. So many children right here in our community are not going to understand why Santa isn't visiting their house this year," said Theresa Petrone.

On average, the toy drive gets more than 2,500 toys.
