NEW YORK -- Hudson Valley officials throw their support behind Governor Cuomo's plan to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge.

Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam County executives have pledged to vote in favor of the replacement project.

These officials have said in previous meetings that they want a mass transit component included in the project. They said Cuomo has agreed to create a task force that will make mass transit recommendations within the year.

Under the agreement, dedicated bus lanes will be incorporated on the bridge from the start and the project will be constructed with the capacity to handle a Bus Rapid Transit System and Commuter Rail Transit.

The construction of the new bridge is expected to cost more than $5 billion.

Concern has been growing among commuters about a big increase in tolls to pay for the new bridge. Some estimate that drivers could pay as much as $14.

This agreement calls for the exploration of discounted tolls for regional residents.

Construction could start later this year or early next year.
