ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany Police are investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old from Cohoes. Officers were called to the 200 block of Elk Street just after 11:00 p.m. where they found the boy, with a single gunshot wound to his neck. Police said the victim was shot on Sherman Street, and neighbors tell us they believe the teen was running through a lot before he collapsed on Elk Street.
The teen was treated at the scene by medical personnel before being taken to Albany Medical Center.
"No suspects right now, it's just an investigation, they're obviously going to interview him, any potential witnesses. Officers and detectives will canvass the neighborhood. As with any crime that happens, especially shootings, we can't do this by ourselves. We need the community's help, so if anyone saw anything, heard anything, please reach out to our detective division," said Steve Smith, Albany Police Public Information Officer.
The teen is currently listed in stable condition.
