Small parking lot and a big hype. Trader Joe's shoppers will pour into town Friday and the store and its neighbors are bracing themselves for the onslaught. YNN's Erin Vannella reports.

"I used to work at Target and I remember people waiting around the line for Black Friday so I'm kind of picturing that in my head and it's a little scary," said SuperCuts Manager Reba Donnahie.

Two doors down and two days away from a Trader Joe's grand-opening, Wolf Road neighbors say they'll take the bad with the good.

"I hope it's going to affect us very well," said Donnahie. "I'm just concerned about the parking outside."

"We opened just over a month ago so we're doing pretty good," said Lemon Drop Manager Howie Yang. "As soon as the people recognize we are here, people are coming back."

Trader Joe's opens Friday and it's hired Colonie police for traffic control.

"On the first two weekends they have three officers contracted for the time the store is open," said Colonie Police Lieutenant Ken Pero. "One officer will be inside their lot, a second will be out on wolf rd to get pedestrians across, and a third officer will be at Sand Creek and Wolf to monitor that pedestrian crossing."

It's $60 an hour per officer, said Pero, a service not new to the capital region shopping district.

"Ted's fish fry on Good Friday, Grandma's pie shop around Thanksgiving and Toys 'R' Us on Wolf Road between Thanksgiving and Christmas."

And so with traffic blocks likely averted, businesses a walk away from their new neighbor say pile on the hungry shoppers.

"Specifically for Trader joe's I think they're going to bring more people to this area plus everyone is bringing healthy food to capital district so that's a really nice concept," said Yang.

"There's a lot of people that walk by here," said Donnahie. "So hopefully the foot traffic will pick up and a lot of people will walk instead of drive."
