SLINGERLANDS, N.Y. -- A ground breaking ceremony took place in Albany County in honor of a local fire house getting a make over.
The Slingerlands Fire District is renovating its existing building and also adding on. Once completed, the fire house will house additional apparatus and utility vehicles.
With the new renovations, the building will have the necessary space to hold a paramedic vehicle if needed. The building will also be open to help house any local EMS agency equipment as well.
"The vehicles are getting bigger over time. One of the challenges we have, our the railroad bridges, some of the lower over heads. They are getting longer by nature. So that is one of the reasons we added on," said Ryan McConky, Commissioner of the Slingerlands Fire District.
The project is expected to be completed in late December or early January.
