A public hearing to determine where sex offenders are allowed to live within the village of Walden takes place on Tuesday. The suggested law would forbid level two and three sex offenders from living within 500 feet of a school or daycare center within village limits. Introduced by the mayor, the law is similar to one already passed in Otsego County. Recently, a level three sex offender moved across the street from Walden's elementary school. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m.
Football season is just around the corner in the Hudson Valley as the Giants head up the Thruway to start training camp in Albany. It's the first time the defending Superbowl Champions will take to the field with their full roster of rookies and veterans competing for a spot in the lineup. After last year's lockout caused the Giant's to miss out on the annual training camp tradition, fans across the state are sure to storm the practice fields and snap pictures of MVP Eli Manning and salsa dancing Victor Cruz. With a recent contract extension, Head Coach Tom Coughlin will look to take his team to back to back titles.
The 2012 Olympic Games kick off with the Opening Ceremony in London on Friday at 4:00 p.m. Titled, Isles of Wonder, it will include farm animals, music performances, and the torch lighting. Americans will be excited to see how favorites like Michael Phelps perform under the intense pressure, though with 16 medals already, adding to his collection shouldn't be a problem. Be sure to check out local cyclist Todd Wells, of Kingston, as he hopes to take home his first medal in his third time representing the U.S. in the Olympics.
Make sure to stop by the Orange County Fair, which wraps up at the end of the week.
