LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- After nine months of consecutive increases, consumer confidence takes a step back in New York State, as well as nationwide.

A new Siena poll shows consumer confidence in New York fell 2.1 percent in June. Nationally, confidence fell 6.1 percent.

According to the poll, New Yorkers' overall consumer confidence is about 1 percent higher than the rest of the nation, which suggests New Yorkers are more optimistic about the future but less satisfied with current conditions.

Still, consumer confidence is up 10 percent since this same time last year.

The poll also indicates that more people are planning to buy homes or make major home improvements this summer but are far less likely to buy a car or truck.
