ALBANY, N.Y. -- The man who pleaded guilty to fatally beating a man during a robbery and assaulting a woman at a Cohoes apartment complex was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
Mark Richardson, 53, was sentenced Thursday for killing John Siakala, 67, at the Ogden Mill apartments and severely beating a woman in the same building.
Police said Richardson was knocking on doors looking to rob someone last December. Siakala was beaten to death when he answered his door.
"He didn't really have anything to say," said the victim's son, Chris Siakala. "He just said he was sorry for what he did. Took my father from his grandkids and stuff. That's all I have to say. I'm done."
Richardson pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder and robbery.
