AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- Amsterdam police made an arrest after getting reports of several car break-ins. They say Richard Bedell, 23, had stolen property from several cars along Brookside Avenue.

Officers say they had to chase him when he ran to Lower Brookside Avenue. He ran into other officers, who arrested him after a brief struggle.

Police say they found him with a bag of items taken from cars, and were able to match some of those with unlocked cars on the street.

Bedell is being charged with resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, and criminal mischief.
