GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. -- Gloversville resident Alan Brasure said, "We have a lot of kids that come and go here and run around and it does scare me to know this happened two doors down."

Neighbors are shocked to learn that, Andrew Daum, was arrested Tuesday afternoon accused of inappropriately touching two males under the age of 18.

"Two charges of endangering the welfare of a child, one charge of forcible touching and one charge of sex abuse in the second degree," said Gloversville Police Department Detective Mike Calbat.

"It jeopardizes the kids’ innocence and that's just horrible," said neighbor Kala Battisi.

Police were notified of the incident, which they say happened at Daum's East Eleventh Street home on June 12th. However, the investigation process was slowed down because Daum has been in and out of the hospital for medical issues police would not comment about.

"I am not concerned that the community has to worry about it. We believe this is an isolated incident at this point and his criminal history doesn't show any patterns here," said Calbat.

Does he have a criminal history?

"No" Calbat said.

Daum has worked for the Ambulance Service of Fulton County for the past eight years. His boss, Howard, who didn't want to go on camera, tells us, he never had any problems with Daum. Regardless, those that live closest to him, remain on edge.

Brasure said, "I'm worried. I'm scared."

"He could have been doing it for years and this could have been the first time that he got caught. You just don't know," said Battisi.

At this point, police are not commenting on whether or not they believe drugs or alcohol could have been involved in the incident.

Daum is out on $4,000 cash bail and expected back in city court on July 11th.
