DELMAR, N.Y. -- Nearly one thousand dollars worth of gift certificates were stolen from the American Legion in Delmar.
The gift certificates were supposed to be used as raffle prizes at the annual golf tournament Monday.
Members at the post say items were taken Thursday night from a car parked in the parking lot.
The tournament raises money for veterans to go to Washington, D.C. and now members say they're not sure they'll be able to raise as much money as they hoped.
“It doesn't make it too fun. We worked hard trying to get this put together,” said golf tournament coordinator John Rees. “You know, this is how we get our money, selling raffle tickets, to generate the money to send the World War II vets to Washington to see the monument and it just puts a big damper on everything.”
