State Police find drugs, explosive device in Esperance man's home
ESPERANCE, N.Y. -- A Schoharie County man is facing felony charges after State Police found illegal drugs as well as an explosive device at his home on Thursday.
Acting on community information, State Police executed a search warrant at the home of Ethan Vanvalen, 21, in the Village of Esperance. State Police recovered 500 ecstasy tablets, 14 ounces of marijuana, counterfeit money, an M1000 explosive device and more than $2,000 in cash. The explosive device was removed by the bomb squad.
Vanvalen was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree possession of marijuana, and first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
He was arraigned in the Town of Cobleskill and sent to the Schoharie County sheriff without bail.
