COLONIE, N.Y. -- Colonie Police have arrested a Utica man after they say he was employing a 14-year-old girl as a prostitute.

Darren Bostick, 27, now faces felony and misdemeanour charges, including promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say they first spotted Bostick's vehicle at the Super 8 motel on Central Avenue and then again at the Days Inn parking lot. The man was confronted there for suspicious activity and traffic violations. That's when police say they found the 14-year-old girl, who gave them a false identity to try and cover up that she's a missing person.

“At this time, there is nothing that indicates she was forced to do this. There was no threats, violence or that he subjected her to any sexual contact,” Colonie Police Lieutenant Robert Winn said.

The teen has been turned over to the Capital District Secure Juvenile Detention Facility on a juvenile delinquency charge.

Bostick was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
