SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Johnny Velazquez will not need surgery on his broken collar bone. The local popular jockey shared that information on Thursday.

In a press release from Velazquez's wife, Leona, she said that Velazquez will not need surgery, but will be out of action for 4-6 weeks as he recovers.

Leona said that her husband saw two doctors in New York and both said he would not need surgery. Velazquez will re-visit the doctor in two weeks for x-rays to see how the healing process is going, and could start physical therapy after that.

The Saratoga Meet starts on July 20th, so there is still a chance Johnny V. could be ready for the opener.
