COLONIE, N.Y. -- Hundreds of people gathered at the Crossings in Colonie on Sunday to celebrate none other than dad. More than 600 people showed up for the annual Father's Day 5K Race, sponsored by the Hudson Valley Road Runners Club.

The race was also the end of the No Boundaries Programs, a 12-week program where first-time runners train to make the transition from the couch to the road.

"It is people that decide that want to get off the couch. They want to get healthy. They want to start running. It's all places, you don't have to be a fast runner to join it. You don't have to be a fast runner to run any race in the area. Just come out and have a great time," said Roxanne Gillen, race director.

According to organizers, in addition to many first-time runners, there were plenty of father-daughter and father-son teams running as well.
