ALBANY, N.Y. -- Governor Cuomo's plan to overhaul NYRA is one step closer to reality. According to a Cuomo official, lawmakers will vote on a bill this week that is similar to a plan that the governor put forward last month.
Under that plan, Governor Cuomo would create what he calls a NYRA reorganization board, with a main goal of improving the horse racing industry. The new board would have 17 members and state selections are the minority.
Governor Cuomo emphasized that this board will be leading NYRA for the next three years, and no longer.
