NEW YORK -- Recent reports indicating that hydrofracking may be allowed in the Southern Tier have prompted those opposed to the practice to take action.
New Yorkers Against Fracking are holding rallies today across the state today. It's a response to a report that Governor Cuomo will allow hydraulic fracturing for natural gas in communities that pass resolutions in favor of it. The state has not permitted hydrofracking since it began an environmental review in 2008.
Today's rallies will take place in Brooklyn, Poughkeepsie, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and on Long Island.
