PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Board of Health is considering new regulations on tobacco products sold in the city. The Board is holding a public hearing tonight on the proposed measures. They're aimed at preventing the sale of tobacco and other nicotine delivery products to minors.

Among the proposals would be a ban on selling tobacco products at businesses that also have pharmacies. Advocates for the ban say more than one in five adults in Pittsfield smoke, which is well above the state average. They say the proposals are part of an overall strategy to reduce the health and economic consequences of tobacco.

Tonight's meeting is at 6 p.m. in City Hall.
