Store sells thousands of shirts to support Schoharie
As Schoharie County continues on its road to recovery, many people have found different ways to help it along. For some, it's volunteering or donating supplies and money, but for a store in Schoharie, it's about the fashion. Our Megan Cruz has more.

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. -- "We've been here for 30 years, so we know everybody. And we hear everybody's stories and so many people have lost so much."
Sue Loden owns The Apple Barrel in Schoharie. Her business and her home in Wright were both spared. So she wasted no time helping others.
"The idea started with my daughter, Jessica, and her friend, Andrea," said Loden.
Both grew up in Schoharie County but have since moved away. Wanting to help their hometowns, though, they decided to design a shirt Loden could sell at the store. All proceeds would go to the Schoharie County Community Action Program to distribute to flood victims.
"They thought it was going to be a small way they could help out, but it ended up being huge," said Loden. "When we first started out, I was thinking that maybe we'd sell 200, maybe 300 shirts. By the end of this weekend, we should have gone through at least 1,500 t-shirts."
And one of Loden's biggest buyers is also her next door neighbor. The owners at the Carrot Barn down the road say they order about 100 shirts every four days, because they can't keep enough of them on their shelves.
"It's just an overwhelming response," said Jolyn Borst. "Everybody who lives in this community wants to send them to their families who live outside of the area, people who live outside of the area see them, want to get them, want to bring them home."
"I purchase them for the community to support our community," said Wright resident Liz Tessarzik.
And her $32 will be added to the more than $15,000 already raised. She says every dollar makes a difference.
"There's so many people doing so many things, but this is something I can do and I want to support it," said Tessarzik.
Loden is glad to hear it.
"I don't see the t-shirts sales going down so, who knows how much we'll be able to raise for the flood victims," she said.
To purchase your own shirts or posters, pins, mugs, or tote bags, you can visit their store at 115 State Route 30A, Schoharie, NY 12157, or call (518) 295-7179.
