BALLSTON LAKE, N.Y. -- It's not quite prom season yet, but it sure is rugby season. The Oneonta Women's Rugby Team took on the combined Saratoga-Bennington teams in a friendly match Saturday in Ballston Lake, and both groups hit the pitch in their formal wear.

"If you have a long dress on it's probably not easy but I cut mine, I cropped mine to make it more playing worthy,” said Caitlyn Osterhout, Oneonta Lady Rebels Rugby.

All the sweating and hard hits weren't just for fun. Money raised at the game goes directly to help ongoing earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

"We're donating anything we have from our bake sale and from raffle tickets that are going to go to Mercy Corps so all the money from that it going to go to the Haiti relief fund,” said Sabrina Nastasi, OLRR.

It was the first prom dress game for both teams, and in the end it was Saratoga-Bennington who came out victorious in the muddy battle.
