The final sectional champion in baseball needed to be crowned and on Friday night it happened. In Class AA two of the schools people thought had a good chance to be here.

Shenendehowa the 4 seed takes on Columbia the 2 seed.

Top of the 3, no score yet. Nick Giunta hits a deep fly to left, the left fielder going back, but not enough room this ball is into the bullpen, that's a solo shot for Giunta, and the Plainsmen lead 1-0.

Bottom of the 4, Ian Castle bloops one into right. AJ Maney comes home and the Devils go on top 2-1.

Top of the 6, still 2-1 Shen trying to tie it up. Matt Drum hits one in the gap in right centerfield. Mike Cuttitta was on first and is being waved home, but the throw beats him there and Ryan Henchy does a nice job blocking the plate and getting the tag down so Shen's still down 1.

Top of the 7, Shen down to their final out, with a runner on third. Giunta grounds one to short but the shortstop short hops the first baseman, he can't handle it and the tying run crosses the plate.

Extra baseball, Bottom of the 9, John Stanley led off with a triple and then AJ Maney brings home the game winning run. Columbia wins the CLass AA Championship with the 3-2 9 inning win over Shen.
