HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Town of Hyde Park Police have charged a man in connection with a 2012 burglary after police say they found his DNA at the scene.
In February 2012, a neighbor called police about a window broken out on a house on Violet Avenue. Police took DNA from a screwdriver used to commit the burglary. The DNA matched Carlos Ortega, 33, of Middletown.
Ortega is currently in jail on an unrelated charge in Down State Correctional Facility, so his DNA was on file. Ortega now also faces multiple charges, including burglary and larceny. He was arraigned and released back to Down State Correctional Facility.
Ortega is due back in court in October.
