ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- It's great to be young in Orange County. For the third year in a row, Orange County has been named one of the top best 100 communities for young people.
America's Promise Alliance picks the top cities that offer kids the best chance for a great future. Wednesday night, leaders from Orange County's Youth Bureau and young people from all over the county came together to celebrate the award.
Orange County beat out over 300 communities from all over the nation for a spot on the list.
"It means we are doing a lot right to make sure our young people are on the right path, that they are staying in school, they are graduating and that there are services and programs throughout the county for them to participate in so they become healthy young adults," Carol Chichester, Orange County Youth Bureau Executive Director.
In the coming weeks, a representative from Washington will deliver the award to County Executive Ed Diana.
