When you are a parent with young kids, finding free time is hardly possible. But if you were to work here, DeCrescente Distributing Company, things are different.
"I have two young kids at home, it's nice to come after work or during lunch," said Aileen Flach, DeCrescente Distributing Co. employee.
"Makes me want to come to work because I have a place like this I go to after work."
Yes, he said, it makes him want to go to work. Why you might ask? His boss, CJ DeCrescente, gives the employees more benefits than just health insurance.
"I think it’s important we not only care about you as an employee but care for you as an person."
Got a headache? Go see the physician’s assistant down the hall. Got a back ache? How about a little physical therapy during lunch? That's what Anthony Green is doing since he hurt his back on the job.
"It makes it a lot easier. Instead of having to drive to Albany to see a physical therapist, have to pay forty bucks or whatever, gas and not paying co-pay, is great," said Green.
Since the gym and wellness center have been open, which are also free for family members, the use has more than doubled and that means more people are healthy.
"If you look at employees that don't have to take off a half day off to get to appointment, having the convenience or go call that day or stop in, you can see someone that day and on your way to feeling better," said CJ DeCrescente, DeCrescente Distributing Co. CEO.
"I was telling somebody today, I don't think I would have gotten my flu shot if it was not so easy to come across the street and have it done."
"Since November, I lost over 50 pounds, I use the gym here and watching what I eat," said an employee, Nick Mosher.
One of the best benefits to having an on-site wellness center? No co-pays.
"We try to put a culture that says we are re-investing back not only to the business but to employees."
"DeCrescente cares about your health, a better employee is a healthy employee."
